Hospital Prescriptions

When you are given a prescription note from the hospital to collect from the surgery, you will need to give this to one of our Patient Navigators. This prescription will take slightly longer than 48 hours as it will need to be verified and approved by your doctor, this can take up to 72 hours. If your medication was urgent for you to take immediately the hospital doctor would give you a hospital prescription for you to get your medication from the hospital pharmacy the same day. Please respect our staff and allow 72 hours for your hospital prescription to be done safely.

Medication changes that your consultant has recommended, but have not given you a prescription note, means that your medication change is not urgent and they will write to your doctor with the recommended changes in due course. Please allow at least 2 weeks (however it can take up to 4weeks) before contacting the prescription clerk (by phone or online) to enquire whether we have received any correspondence from your consultant. Unless there are any contraindications, for the recommended changes, your doctor will usually do these changes automatically.
