Childhood Immunisations

We run a child immunisation clinic every Tues afternoon. You will get an appointment through the post, from Child Health, for your child at the relevant time. If you are unable to attend please ring the surgery to cancel and your child will be reappointed by Child Health.

See the Childhood Vaccination list at NHS Choices.

Flu Immunisations

Flu clinics are run every year in October/November time. We run 2 Saturday morning clinics. Please ring the surgery in September to book your appointment. If you are unable to attend these there will other clinics arranged.

As well as the groups listed below, there are now plans to start offering the flu immunisation to 2-3yrs old in 2013. This will take the form of a nasal spray, not an injection.

People eligible for flu jabs:

  • Are you 65 or older
  • OR are you under 65 and suffer from:
    • respiratory disease
    • heart disease
    • kidney disease
    • liver disease
    • diabetes,
    • a weak immune system
  • OR have had a stroke?
  • OR pregnant.

If the answer to any of these questions is YES, then your doctor recommends that you are protected against influenza. Vaccination can help protect you from flu this winter.

You CANNOT catch flu from the vaccine.

Shingles Immunisations

Shingles is a debilitating condition, which occurs more frequently and tends to be more severe in older people. Shingles vaccine is being introduced this year for the first time for the 70yr olds and a catch up campaign for the 79 year olds. Over the next few years the scheme will be rolled out for all 70-79 year olds.
